We're doing our bit for Mother Earth
The ethos is simple. Think reduced consumption. Think local economy.
Here at the studio, we have been doing things to help reduce waste and consumption for a wee while now.
It's true that an occupational hazard for graphic designers is our love for paper, but that doesn't mean that we can't be responsible.
Recycled paper is bought for office use. It's then printed on again and
again until it can't be printed on anymore. It's then either put into
the recycling bin or usable bits are cut up into scrap paper.
Those cute, curly energy-saving bulbs are used although natural light is used whenever possible.
Anything that can be recycled, is recycled. An easy 2-bin system in the office makes throwing stuff away a breeze: can it be recycled -- ok, into the recycling bin it goes; if it can't -- ok, into the general rubbish bin it goes.
We have partnered with printers that use vegetable-based inks and FSC or recycled paper is requested as a standard.
Andrea Wong Design will be moving to electronic invoicing and statements as a standard. And electronic payments are the preferred option for all payments in and out.
New Zealand made products are bought in preference to overseas products, wherever possible. Australian made products are the next choice. It is important for locals to support local products and services.
It is easy to make small changes to do your bit. What is your business doing to help reduce your consumption and support your local economy?
